Radiology reporting standard

LI-RADS

LI-RADS is the American College of Radiology system for liver observations on CT and MRI in patients at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma, assigning categories from LR-1 (definitely benign) to LR-5 (definitely HCC), plus LR-M, LR-TIV and LR-NC.

How RadVector applies it

LI-RADS, applied the same way every time.

The same deterministic engine grades LI-RADS inside RadVector Reporting and through RadVector API, and a test keeps the two answers identical.

  • Assigns no LR category unless the report states the patient is at risk (cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis B or prior HCC); otherwise it says LI-RADS does not apply.
  • Applies LR-TIV, then LR-M, then the benign categories, then the diagnostic table of arterial phase hyperenhancement, size and the additional major features.
  • Never assumes arterial hyperenhancement or washout; computes threshold growth from stated prior sizes.

Radiologists and imaging centers

RadVector Reporting supplies the LI-RADS category and recommendation to the report draft from the radiologist's own findings, cites the guidance applied, and keeps a per-report governance record. The radiologist signs.

LI-RADS questions

When does LI-RADS apply?

CT/MRI LI-RADS applies to patients at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma: those with cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis B, or current or prior HCC. RadVector checks that the report states such a risk before assigning any LR category and otherwise answers that LI-RADS does not apply.

Can RadVector API return a LI-RADS category?

Yes. Send the observation's size and features, or the report text, and RadVector API returns the LR category with its pack and version, or a deferral naming the feature it needs. The LI-RADS pack is a draft under validation, so answers are advisory today.
