Radiology reporting standard

DEXA

DEXA bone density classification applies the World Health Organization T-score thresholds (normal at -1.0 or above, low bone mass between -1.0 and -2.5, osteoporosis at -2.5 or below) at the diagnostic sites the International Society for Clinical Densitometry specifies.

Validated packValidated criteria pack (2026.2, validated 2026-10-01); verdicts may be marked usable for output.

How RadVector applies it

DEXA, applied the same way every time.

The same deterministic engine grades DEXA inside RadVector Reporting and through RadVector API, and a test keeps the two answers identical.

  • Validated criteria pack: a DEXA verdict can be marked usable for output.
  • Reads T-scores and Z-scores as densitometry reports write them, by site and from score tables, using only the current exam's rows.
  • Uses the lowest T-score among the ISCD diagnostic sites and checks that the report's stated category agrees with it.

Radiologists and imaging centers

RadVector Reporting supplies the DEXA category and recommendation to the report draft from the radiologist's own findings, cites the guidance applied, and keeps a per-report governance record. The radiologist signs.

DEXA questions

What T-score means osteoporosis?

Under the World Health Organization criteria, a T-score of -2.5 or lower at a diagnostic site means osteoporosis, a T-score between -1.0 and -2.5 means low bone mass (osteopenia), and -1.0 or higher is normal. RadVector applies these thresholds at the ISCD 2019 diagnostic sites.

Can RadVector check a bone density report's category?

Yes. RadVector reads the T-scores from the report or worksheet, assigns the WHO category from its validated DEXA pack, and flags a report whose stated category does not match the lowest diagnostic-site T-score for the radiologist to review.

Other reporting standards

RadVector is clinical decision support for qualified professionals, not a diagnostic device; the radiologist makes the final determination.
